Alex Rougeot & the Clos Cachet team have reimagined La Paulee de Meursault into a Melbourne based event. Alex has long awaited the chance to introduce the concept of La Paulée de Meursault, a tradition that celebrates the end of harvest for the winemakers, to Australians.

Melbourne is in the heart of some of Australia's most excited wine regions, and is naturally a place where culture is shared, and appreciated. With a focus on bringing the spirit and culture of Burgundy to Australia, we are turning our focus on local Victorian vineyards and their wines. With Victoria having some of the best climates for Australian Chardonnay & Pinot Noir, there is an exquisite range of wines to represent how the Victorians take on these noble grapes.

We aim to provide an entertaining event with delicious food acting as a platform for winemakers, wine lovers, restauranteurs, wine professionals to bring and share their wines with one another, along with bountiful amounts of music and laughter.

Hubert & Alexandre Rougeot
For those that know of La Paulée de Meursault would have heard of the name Hubert Rougeot, once Mayor of Meursault. As a man who is at the soul of the village, he has not missed a La Paulée since 1951. He has watched it grow, and been a primary element as to why Meursault has gained worldwide recognition, along with the constant development and expansion of La Paulée.

Now with Hubert Rougeot’s grandson, Alexandre Rougeot, calling Melbourne home, it seems fitting that La Paulée is brought to life here in Victoria. With his dedication to wine and the sharing of his knowledge, Alexandre Rougeot, is bringing La Paulée Melbourne to life. As the founder and director of Clos Cachet, a fifth generation winemaker of Domaine Rougeot, and celebrated sommelier, he now turns his attention to the exquisite Burgundy styles wines cultivated here in Victoria.

Spirit of la Paulee

Sharing

La Paulee is many things, but at its roots it is an occasion for winemakers and enthusiasts to share their favourite bottles of wine with one another. In Meursault you will likely find the winemakers themselves wandering up and down the tables pouring you a glass of their wine while expressing what the latest harvest has given them.
By hosting the largest BYOB (Bring your own bottle) event in Australia, we wish to replicate this friendly affair of pouring each other a glass and being able to discuss what it is you favour in the glass.

Celebration

What would a free flowing wine lunch be without copious amounts of celebration? Reaching the end of harvest season is truly something to celebrate and imparting that relief and excitement about putting the crates of grapes down and picking up a bottle of wine is what La Paulee is all about.
With bottles shared and glasses poured over the several hours of fine food, there will be much to celebrate throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

As with most intriguing new events, you are likely to come away with more knowledge than when you walked in. This is key to La Paulee as it is a space to both support and learn from Victorian winemakers that you may have never had the chance to meet.
How often is there the chance to sit down and have a glass of wine with the producer sitting opposite you? We encourage taking the time to listen to every person in the room and understand their own unique ways of growing and vinifying wine. La Paulee is not about finding out secrets and causing competition, every winemaker and enthusiast can focus on supporting and growing the Victorian wine industry in a way never done before.
